Question 439680: At a recent baseball game, the home team was losing so badly that 25% of the 4,280 fans left after the seventh inning. By the beginning of the ninth inning, another 50% of the remaining fans had left.
•How many fans were left in the stadium at the beginning of the ninth inning?
•What percentage of the 4,280 fans had left by the beginning of the ninth inning?
(im just a bit lost as to how to figure out the 2nd part of the question my work is below any help would be greatly appreciated)thank you again:)
PART A
4,280 * .25 = 1,070 --> 4,280 - 1,070 = 3,210
(.25)=25%
3,210 is the number of fans left after the seventh inning.
at the end of 7th inning 3,210 fans are left 50% leave by the begining of the 9th inning
3,210 * .5 = 1,605 remaining fans at the end of the 9th :D

Two ways to figure this. If 25% leave, then 75% remain. Then if 50% of the 75% leave, you have 0.75 times 0.50 = 0.375 = 37.5% remain. Or you can calculate:
