Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
jar 2 has twice as much as jar 1
and jar 3 has twice as much as jar 2
aLL THREE JARS HAVE 154 ounces
----
Equations:
b = 2a
c = 2b
a+b+c = 154
-----
Substitute:
(b/2) + b + 2b = 154
---
b + 2b + 4b = 308
---
7b = 308
b = 44 oz (amt. in jar 2)
-----
a = b/2 = 22 oz (amt. in jar 1)
-----
c = 2b = 88 oz (amt. in jar 3)
