A student scored 5 points more on the second quiz than the first. Scored 11 points lower on the third quiz than the first. If the average of the three quizzes score is 70 what was the score on the first quiz?
-------
Let the score on the 1st quiz be "x".
Score on 2nd quiz: x+5
3rd: x-11
---
Equation:
(x + x+5 + x-11)/3 = 70
---
(3x-6)/3 = 70
---
x -2 = 70
x = 72 (score on the 1st quiz)
