Her best friend had to drop out of the race after running 1/8 of the distance that Josie ran. What fractional part of the marathon did Josie's friend complete?

Let x represent the distance of the marathon

 Josie did 2/3x of it and her friend  did (1/8)[(2/3)x]

 Her friend ran 

Her friend finished 1/12 of the marathon
