how many milliliters of a 20% solution should be added to a 50 milliliters of 40% solution to obtain 25% solution?
----------------------------
Equation:
active + active = active
0.40*50 + 0.20x = 0.25(50+x)
----
Multiply thru by 100 to get:
40*50 + 20x = 25*50 + 25x
---
5x = 15*50
x = 150 milliliters (amt. of 20% solution needed in the mixture)
