The total number of candy bars to start with becomes the denominator of the ratio. That is 36.
The numerator will be the total number of candy bars left. After he sold 10, 36-10 or 26 bars were left. If his mom sold half of 26, she sold 13 and 13 bars remain.
The ratio is then: 13/36.
