Let x = amount of 6% solution added
then
.01(100) + .06x = .04(100 + x)
1 + .06x = 4 + .04x
1 + .02x = 4
.02x = 3
x = 3/.02
x = 150 mL (amount of 6% solution to be added)

x=150 mL if all 100 ML of 1% is used
.01(50)+.06(x)=.04(50+x)
x=75mL if 50 mL are used
