Let's say that Fran earns 800. If Jan's 5/8*800=500
Let's say that Fran's expenses are 600 so that Jan's expenses are 300
500-300=200
200/500=2/5=40% savings
Fran gets 800 but spends 600
800-600=200
200/800=1/4=25% of Fran's income not spent (saved)
