How much water must be added to 30 liters of a 75% salt solution to reduce it to 15%?
.
Let x = liters of water added
then
.75(30) = .15(30+x)
22.5 = 4.5 + .15x
18 = .15x
120 liters = x

How much water must be added to 30 liters of a 75% salt solution to reduce it to 15%?
:
Let x = amt of water required to this
:
the amt salt remains the same, only the % salt changes
A simple equation
:
.75(30) = .15(x + 30)
:
22.5 = .15x + 4.5
:
22.5 - 4.5 = .15x
:
18 = .15x
x =
x = 120 liters of water required
:
:
Check solution original equation (equal amt of salt)
.75(30) = .15(120 + 30)
22.5 = .15(150)
22.5 = 22.5
