You were close! But notice that the probem says "...the sum of the number and 10 "is less than" 3 times the number, so this can be expressed as the inequality:
where x is the number.

So do you set the problem up like:
x + 10 = 3x ??

which is the solution to the EQUALITY.

2x = 10
x = 5 is the boundary.
