Question 176352: Dear tutor i'm studying for the GRE and i'm having a lot of trouble translating the math word problems into an equation.
this is the problem that I have:
If the ratio of 2x to 5y is 3 to 4, waht is the ratio of X to Y?
also if you have any tricks that could help me translate these problems into equations i would really appreciate it.

"is" means equals (=)
"ratio of 2x to 5y" means

Let's put it all together.

Multiply both sides of eq. 1 by (5/2),
