Question 161831: If the number x is added to both the numerator and denominator of the fraction 2/5, the result is 2/3. What is x?
Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(2+x)/(5+x)=2/3
2(5+x)=3(2+x)
10+2x=6+3x
2x-3x=6-10
-x=-4
x=4 answer.
Proof:
(2+4)/(5+4)=2/3+
6/9=2/3
18=18
