Sonja earned $50,000 as an accountant in 1999. Due to the recession, she agreed to a 20 % cut in salary for 2000. In 2001 the economy improved, and her salary was restored to it's original 1999 level. What percent raise did Sonja get in 2001?
.
1999: $50,000
2000: $50,000 - .20($50,000) = 40000
.
2001: restored to 1999
Let x = raise
then
x(40000) = 50000
x = 50000/40000
x = 5/4
x = 1.25
.
There's you 25% raise.
