Use a proportion to solve this problem:
amount of change/beginning amount=%/100.
"From 1950" means this population is the beginning amount.
The amount of change is the positive difference between the beginning amount and the ending amount(means subtract the smaller number from the larger number)
620500000/426000000=%/100 Change % to a variable
620500000/426000000=x/100
426000000x=62050000000 Cross multiply and solve for x.
x=145.66 %
