Question 1206747: Which statement about the function n(x) = 5x^2 - 20x + 12 is true?
A. The domain of the function is x ≥ 2.
B. The range of the function is n(x) ≥ -8
C. The domain of the function is x ≥ 0.
D. The range of the function is n(x) ≤ 12.

The domain of any polynomial function is all real numbers, so answer choices A and C are not right.

The graph is an upward opening parabola, so the range is all real numbers greater than or equal to some minimum value. So between the remaining answer choices B and D, answer choice D can't be right.

Since one of the answer choices has to be right, it must be B.

We could do some work with the given equation to verify that the minimum value is -8; but with only four answer choices of which three can't be right, we shouldn't need to do that.

ANSWER: B
