Let's call the number of adult tickets, A, and the number of children's tickets, C.
1. The total number of tickets sold was 600.
2. The total value of adult tickets ($8xA) children's tickets ($5xC) was $4116.
Use equation 1 to solve for A in terms of C.
1.
Now substitute for A in equation 2 and solve for C.
2.
From 1,
372 Adult tickets sold and 228 children's tickets sold.
