Question 1204714: Fill in the blanks so that the resulting equation has no solutions.
___ + ___ = ___ + ____
p 2p 3p 4p 5p 6p 7p 8p 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

Answer by math_tutor2020(3817)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

p+2p = 3p+1
3p = 3p+1
0 = 1
In the last step, we subtract 3p from both sides
The last equation is a contradiction.
It's never true regardless of what we select for p in the original equation.

Therefore, p+2p = 3p+1 has no solutions.
Other examples are possible such as p+3p = 4p+2 or 7p+5 = 3p+4p
