was the original value of Danny's paycheck?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let x be the original value of Danny's paycheck, in dollars.
After saving 2/3 of his paycheck, he left with x/3 dollars.
After spending 1/2 of these x/3 dollars, he left with x/6 dollars.
Our equation is  x/6 = 6.  It implies  x = 6*6 = 36.
ANSWER.  The original value of Danny's paycheck was $36.
