Question 1180844: A merchant purchased a line of handbags for R172,00 each. She wants to offer a 14% discount off the listed selling price and still make a 24% profit. What should be the price that she should mark on the label ?
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
24% profit is 172.00*0.24=41.28 profit, so selling price alone would be that + 172 or 213.28R.
the listed selling price x is such that 0.86x=213.28.
then x= 248R
-
From 248 R, 14% off leaves 213.28
that is 41.28R more than 172.00, so profit is their quotient, or 24%.
