let x, y, z equal the amount of money that each friend has.

x represents the money that the first friend has.
y represents the money that the second friend has.
z represents the money that the third friend has.

your equation is:
3/5 * z + 1/4 * z + z = 37000

multiply both sides of this equation by 20 to get:
12 * z + 5 * z + 20 * z = 37000 * 20

combine like terms to get:
37 * z = 37000 * 20

divide both sides of the equation by 37 to get:
z = 1000 * 20 = 20,000.

you have:
z = 20,000
x = 3/5 * z = 3/5 * 20,000 = 12,000
y = 1/4 * z = 1/4 * 20,000 = 5,000

x + y + z = 12,000 + 5,000 + 20,000 = 37,000
