Question 1149441: Q.) A, B and C bought apples in the ratio 5:3:2. If the difference
of apples between A and C is 60, find the difference between B
and C.
Answer by greenestamps(13334) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Given the ratio A:B:C = 5:3:2,
let A = 5x
let B = 3x
let C = 2x
That is one standard method for starting work on a problem where a ratio like that is given.
So we know the difference between A and C is 60:
And so
A = 5x = 100
B = 3x = 60
C = 2x= 40
And then the difference between B and C is 60-40 = 20.
