Question 1132486: A father distributes R1500 to his children, Jane, Karen and Eddie, in the ration J:K:E, respectively. If Jane gets twice as much as Karen, who in turn gets three times as much as Eddie, how much does each child receive?

.
Let x be the amount received by Eddie.

Then Karen received 3x, while Jane received 2*(3x) = 6x.

The total is

    x + 3x + 6x = 1500.

    10x = 1500  ====>  x =  = 150.

Answer.  Eddie received  R150;  Karen received  3*R150 = R450;  Jane received  2*R450 = R900.

CHECK.   150 + 450 + 900 = 1500.    ! Correct !

Regarding your formulation,  you can omit this part  "in the ration J:K:E,  respectively"  totally.

It does not carry any info and is excessive.
