Think of a pizza. The top number is the number of slices you ate, the bottom number is the total number of slices in the pizza. Let's say you ate 3 slices out of a total of 8: 3/8 is your answer. What percentage of the pizza is that? Well, divide 3/8 and you get 0.375 or 37.5%
