Question 1058752: 35% of a box of chocolates is white chocolate.1/4 is dark. 16 chocolates are milk. How many dark chocolates and white chocolates are there in the box?

Answer by addingup(3677)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
100-16 = 84% are white and dark
0.35x+0.25x+16 = x
0.60x-x = -16
-0.40x = -16
x = -16/-0.40 = 40
There are 40 chocolates in the box:
40*1/4 = 10 are dark
40*.35 = 14 are white
---------------------------------
check
dark : 10
white: 14
milk: 16
------------
Total 40 Correct
