Hi there,
Make students = x
Non-students = y
x + y = 341......Eq(1)
3.50x + 5.50y = 1465.50.......Eq(2)
Multiply Eq(1) by 3.50
3.50x + 3.50y = 1193.50.......Eq(1)
3.50x + 5.50y = 1465.50.......Eq(2)
Subtract Eq(1) from Eq(2)
2y = 272
y = 136
Substitute y = 136 into Eq(1)
x + y = 341
x + 136 = 341
x = 341 - 136
x = 205
Number of students = 205
Number of non-students = 136
Hope this helps :-)
