52% of the students are girls.
this means 48% of the students are boys.

50% of the girls travel to school by bus.

this means 50% of the 52% of students who are girls travel to school by bus.

50% of 52% is equal to .50 * .52 which is equal to .26 which is equal to 26% of the students that are girls and that travel to school by bus.

25% of the boys travel to school by bus.

this means 25% of the 48% of the students who are boys travel to school by bus.

25% of 48% is equal to .25 * .48 which is equal to .12 which is equal to 12% of the students that are boys and that travel to school by bus.
