I have tried having the original cost as 100% and taking off the 30% for the sale and the 20% for the last day to make 50%, and gave an answer of 50% of the £290. I was told this was wrong and am unsure what to do.

On the day before the last day of the sale, the price of the sofa was 
. Then, on the last day of the sale, the price was again reduced to 80% of the price the day before, so
\ =\ 0.56(290))
