Let x be that amount of money each of women initially had.

Then

x- 130 = 3*(x-480).

Simplify and solve for x:

x - 130 = 3x - 3*480,

x - 130 = 3x - 1440,

1440 - 130 = 3x - x

1310 = 2x,

x =  = 655.

Check.  a) 655-130 = 525;  b) 655-480 = 175;  c) 525 = 3*175  Yes!  OK !!  Check is done.

Answer. Each of the two women had originally £655.
