Question 1033510: During a sale at a bookstore, Joseph buys a book at full price. He is given a 50 percent discount on the second book of equal or less value. If Joseph buys two books with a full price of $15 and $10 respectively, by what percent is the total cost of the two books reduced during the sale?
Answer by jorel555(1290) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In this example, the discount is only applied to the second book. So Joseph has to pay:
$15 + .5($10), or $20 total.
Since the books normally cost $25 total normally, Joseph paid $20/$25%, or 80% of both books (saving 20%)!!!!!!!!
