Question 1032977: I am trying see why I come out with two different answer for this math..I have two areas to pour concrete on. They have same length and width which is 20'x14' each. I came out with 280 for one section and 280 for the other section too.I decided the 560 which is the total for both section with 80 to find how many yards of concrete to order then come out with 7 yards..I tried a another way of calculation the same measurement by add 20'and 20' equal 40' and add 14' and 14' equal 28 then I multiplied them as 40'x28' then I come out with 1,200 which I will get 14yards of concrete for my project..Im confused I thought 20'x14' plus 20'x14' will be the same answer with 40'x28' but they are not. Why? and which measurement should I go with to get the right amount of concrete I need..please help me

Im confused I thought 20'x14' plus 20'x14' will be the same answer with 40'x28' but they are not. Why?
-------------
20*14 + 20*14 = 40*14 or 20*28, not 40*28
---
You can divide a 40 by 28 area into 4 areas of 20 by 14.
Don't double both dimensions.
