Question 1024: In a certain year, Minnesota produced 2/3 and Michigan produced 1/6 of all the iron ore produced in the United States. If all the other states combined produced 18 million tons that year, how many million tons did Minnesota produce that year?

Ok. You need to turn 2/3 into 4/6 and then add it with the 1/6. Now you know that there is only 1/6 left and that that = 18 million tons. So 1/6 = 18 million tons.
Multiply 18 million by 4 and that is your answer.
ANSWER: 72 million tons
