Question 1009301: At noon, a ship leaves a harbor and sails south at 10 knots. Two hours later, a second ship leaves the harbor and sails east at 15 knots. When will the ships be 100 nautical miles apart? Round to the nearest minute.
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let theta be an angle in quadrant 2 such that sec theta=-5/4. Find the exact values of cot theta and sin theta.?
----------
Note:: x is negative and y is positive in QII.
-----------------
By definition, sec(t) = r/x
So, r = 5 and x = -4.
Then y = sqrt[5^2-4^2] = sqrt(25-16) = sqrt(9) = 3
------------------
Answers::
cot(t) = x/y = -4/3
sin(t) = y/r = 3/5
