We can also call the ratio of the pieces, 3x to 5x. Thus there are
a total of 8x parts that add to 360 cm...we can ten write
8x = 360
x = 45
so that the ratio we want is
3(45) : 5(45)
135 : 225
and the difference is
225-135 = 90 cm
