Question 1004901: Marcus and Tony work for the same company. Marcus lays a slab of concrete in 5 hours. Tony lays the same slab in 7 hours. If both work on the job and the cost of labor is 84.00$ per hour, decide what the labor estimate should be.
Answer by fractalier(6550)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The set up for this problem is
t/5 + t/7 = 1 (the 1 is for one job)
Multiply by 35 and solve for t...
7t + 5t = 35
12t = 35
t = 35/12 hours
Now multiply that by $84 an hour and get
(35/12)(84) = $245
