Question 89792: what is the equation of the linewhich passes through the point (-5,-2) and which is parallel to the line 6x-3y=10

Lines that are parallel have the same slope:
Line #1 = 6x-3y=10
y=2y-10/3
So. Slope #1 = (2)
.
Line #2 = use the slope-intercept formula: y=mx+b
-2=(2)(-5)+b [plug-in points (-5, -2) and slope = m = 2]
-2=-10+b [solve for the b-term]
b=8
Plugging b=8 back into the slope-intercept form (y=mx+b) gives
y=2x+8
Line # 2: y=2x+8
