Question 869824: Does a square with 3-inch sides has a greater area than a parallelogram that is not a square but has sides that have the same length?SENSE OR NONSENSE?

The square has the larger area.
The diagram shows that this parallelogram has the same area as the square.
However the side of the parallelogram is no longer equal to the side of the original square, it is larger since it's the hypotenuse of a right triangle where the side of the original square is one of the legs.
So a parallelogram with a smaller side (like the original square side) would have less area.
