The area of a parallelogram is given by multiplying the measure of the base (the 11 inch side, in your case) times the height (the measure of the dashed line in your case).
In a right triangle with a 60 degree angle, the side adjacent to the 60 degree angle measures one-half of the hypotenuse. The side opposite is the square root of 3 times the measure of the side adjacent. So your little right triangle has sides of 6, 3, and
