ab= 2x+2
ef= 17
dc= 5x-10
If I am understanding Your question properly:
(ab + dc)/2 = ef
[(2x+2)+(5x-10)]/2 = 17
[(2x+2)+(5x-10)] = 34
7x = 42
x = 6
