Start by multiplying both sides by 2. Write back if you are still stuck.

Hello,
With these type of equations that have fractions it's best to get rid of the fractions. In this case, multiply by 2 to get:
y + 20 = 4y-4
Now we can subtract 1y and add 4 to both sides to get:
3y=24
Divide by 3:
y=8
Make sense?
