According to Wikipedia, the trapezoid article states:
"There is also some disagreement on the allowed number of parallel sides in a trapezoid. At issue is whether parallelograms, which have two pairs of parallel sides, should be counted as trapezoids. Some authors[1] define a trapezoid as a quadrilateral having exactly one pair of parallel sides, thereby excluding parallelograms. Other authors[2] define a trapezoid as a quadrilateral with at least one pair of parallel sides, making a parallelogram a special type of trapezoid"
So depending on what part of the world you live in, the answer will vary. However, my guess is that you live in the US. So the first definition will be used. This means that a trapezoid is a quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides. So a trapezoid is NOT a parallelogram.
