Question 237500: how do i do the problem (3,2), y = x+5? It says to write the slope-intercept form of an equasion of the line that passes through the given point and is parallel to the graph of each equation.

the line formula is [Y=mX+b] where m=slope & b=the y intercept.
PARALLEL TO y = x+5 (red line) & PASSING THROUGH (3,2)
THIS EQUATION HAS A SLOPE=1 SO THE PARALLEL LINE WILL ALSO HAVE A SLOPE=1
2=1*3+b
2=3+b
b=2-3
b=-1
y=x-1 (green line)
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 10, of TWO functions x +5 and x -1).
