A parallelogram has a base of length of x+6 and a height of x+2 and an area of 60 unit. find the base and height of the parallelogram?
My best guess is that x=4 because 4+6=10 and 4+2=6 and then 10 x 6 = 60 <-- area but i do not know how to show the work?!?

(x^2+8x+12)/2=60
x^2+8x+12=60*2
x^2+8x+12-120=0
X^2+8X-108=0

x=(-8+-sqrt[8^2-4*1*-108])/2*1
x=(-8+-sqrt[64+432])/2

x=(-8+22.271)/2
x=14.271/2
x=7.1355
7.1355+6=13.1355 ans. for the base.
7.1355+2=9.1355 ans. for the height.
Proof:
(7.1355+6)(7.1355+2)/2=60
(13.1355*9.1355)/2=60
120/2=60
60=60
