In each parallelogram, the diagonals bisect each other.


Therefore, from the given condition, you have


    |AE| = |EC|,   or   3x + y = 2x + y,


which implies


    3x = 2x,   and then   x = 0.


ANSWER.  x= 0.   y can be any number (it can not be defined by an unique way from the given data).
