To divide by a fraction. multiply by its reciprocal:

(3 1/4)/(2/3)=(13/4)/(2/3)=(13/4)(3/2)=39/8
This gives the number of 2/3 inch pieces in 3 and 1/4 inch,
as opposed to 2/3 of 3 1/4 (2/3 times 3 1/4) which would be:
(13/4)(2/3)=26/12=2 1/6 inches.
