Question 9651: Ok, I know this should be easy, but i forget how to do this type of question when the first y has a # in front of it. Ya, sounds dumb, but I really need help please and thank you!!!!! For some reason I keep getting the wrong answer...simpify, and get -5(y-2)/4
5y^2-20y+20/8-4y
and second question is x2-y2/xy+x2...now for this i keep getting the simplified answer of x-y/x^x....but i am supposed to get x-y/x and i dont know how to get there. please more help!
Answer by Earlsdon(6294) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1) Simplify:
Factor the top and the bottom:
Factor the top parentheses and rewrite the bottom:
Finally, cancel the (y-2) in the top & bottom:
2) Simplify:
Again, factor the top & bottom:
Cancel the (x+y) in the top with the (y+x) in the bottom. Because (y+x) = (x+y)
