Question 941112: im just jumping into calculus after being out of school for many years. were having a basic refresher on algebra but i simply cant seem to recall how to do simple equations. y=7/8x-1. maybe a description of how its done so i can retain the information better and hopefully help me in the future.

Are you solving for x? If so, ad 1 to both sides, and then multiply by 8/7 (assuming you mean y = (7/8) - 1).

You will need a solid algebra background if you take calculus, so you should definitely review any algebra and pre-calc topics you don't remember.
