Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the least common multiple of a number can include the number itself.
the least common multiple of 6 and 12 is equal to 12 because 6 divides evenly into 12 and 12 divides evenly into 12.
if this were not true, then it would be some other number bigger than both of them.
for example:
the least common multiple of 3 and 4 is equal to 12 because that's the smallest number that each of them can divide evenly into.
the multiples of 3 are 3,6,9,12.
the multiples of 4 are 4,8,12.
the least common multiple is 12.
in your problem, the multiples of 6 are 6,12.
the multiples of 12 are 12.
the least common multiple is 12.
