Question 833585: Add & Subtract Mixed Numbers
(7 1/9)+ 6 4/15)= but I have to simplify

Answer by JulietG(1812)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find the lowest common denominator
9,18,27,36,45,54...
15,30,45,60...
We'll use 45
1/9 = 5/45
4/15 = 12/45
Since it's addition, we can add the whole numbers and then add the fractions
7+6 = 13
5/45 + 12/45 = 17/45 (cannot be further reduced)
13 17/45
