Question 807529: john gained 10 1/2 kg in 3 1/2 years .what was his average gain per year?
Answer by josmiceli(19441)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The ratio of kg to years is:
10 1/2 / 3 1/2
---------------
The ratio does not change if you multiply
top and bottom by the same number.
I'll multiply top and bottom by 2.
21 / 7
---------
This is saying that if his weight gain increased at
the same rate, John would weigh 21 kg in 7 years
----------
Now divide the top and bottom by 7. The ratio
does not change when you do this.
3/1
John's average weight gain is 3 kg per year
