Question 785547: 6-x/4=x/8
Answer by xinxin(76) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
6 - x/4 = x/8
6 = x/8 + x/4
6 = x/8 + 2x/8
6 = 3x/8
48 = 3x
x = 48/3 = 16
Fractions that can be added together must have the same denominator.
The rest part of my solution is based on the property of equations: if a -b = c, then a - b + b = c + b, which is a = c + b.
This works for multiplications as well (a = c, so ab = bc )
